Susan Markham
"Seeing people delighted, inspired, and fulfilled by the expression of their highest potential at work, and then providing leadership to facilitate that in others, is my passion."
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Prior to her career with Insigniam, Susan co-owned and managed a travel agency for more than 15 years. Susan's company was distinct in its ability to focus on the big picture to create customized vacations that were expressions of her clients' passions. As the partner accountable for training and developing new employees in airline systems and customized tour packages, Susan brings an expertise in education to her consulting at Insigniam. She discovered her passion for education early in her life and spent the first few years of her career teaching elementary school. While teaching she was struck by the impact teachers have by imparting preconceived notions, prejudices, values, and judgments to their students. This insight led Susan to a life long study into what inspires human performance and excellence.
Other exciting and noteworthy professional experience includes:
- Increasing membership of Business Network International by 100% as its president for two terms
- Becoming one of the top leaders in a program that focuses on training other leaders and participating in over seven years of leadership development
- Leading a three-month program for 70 people coaching and training participants to successfully design and implement community projects that have an impact and make a difference in various areas of community life
EDUCATION
- Bachelor of Science, Education, Temple University, 1972
VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
- Working with the End Violence Project, a ten-week program at prisons to shift the environment and culture for and with inmates
- Volunteering for two years with Habitat for Humanity
SUSAN AFTER WORK
Susan is committed to deep friendships, family, and her marriage. Susan loves to travel and has been to almost every continent including off-the-beaten-path trips to Machu Picchu, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Singapore, Malaysia, Egypt, and passage on the Orient Express. She is passionate about dance, music, fine food and wines, exploring and immersing herself in foreign cultures, and is an avid animal-lover. She and her husband live in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with their two Jack Russell terriers. The four of them love to watch movies together (although the terriers don't comment much, they are riveted!)
